HALKYN MOUNTAIN

Well nothing much to shout about on HF so decided to give 2 meters a try out, landed on 145.400 this afternoon on a very wet misarable day in Pudsey. My mood and afternoon were lifted by a small S4-5 on the frequency CQ CQ 2W0THM/P Graham and some friends from the Wirral had decided to have a radio day in Flintshire and climb over 900ft onto the Halkyn Mountain.... Now my take off to the west of my QTH has never been the best, Due to a huge mound of Mud between myself and the Pennines, but on occasion I have had some success into North Wales and today was no exception.....so armed with my 45w and Diamond X-300  First call and he came back 5-5 not bad for simplex......
